This cropped jacket is a replica of actual late Qing dynasty style riding jackets of Manchurian origin.

Qing dynasty pieces are known for their full embroidery work that covered the entire garment. The thoughtfully placed embroidery are well-balanced with negative spaces around, and this remake is perfect for everyday wear especially in office settings. It instantly transforms a casual look into a formal one.

Most of these riding jackets were quite generous with their cutting as typical of traditional Chinese garment, allowing the wearers to pass them on for generations and adjust easily throughout one’s lifetime.

The design is available in a range of colours to allow you to mix and match however you wish! My personal favourite are the teal and the orange because it goes with the modernised mamian skirts with their complementary colours. In the main image, it is also paired with a waist sash of similar colour range with motif dating to Tang dynasty, yet another era of extremely fusion in fashion and culture within China.

The iconic damask of Chinese fabric is also deployed as the base fabric for the embroidery, giving it an added layer of texture.
