Literati’s Ink 墨客

Natural Serpentine bangle with ink inclusions

Inner diameter measures around 59.8mm

Height of bangle: 16.1mm

Thickness of bangle: 7.6mm

Fits bangle size of less than 59mm generally (I am a 58 and I can just squeeze into it without too much force. It has an unusual cylindrical shape which means it is not round all the way but rectangular).

You may pair it with another ring with ink inclusions like the one in the product gallery.

Serpentine is also known as Xiu Yu 岫玉 (lit: “Jade” from the cave region) in Chinese, as the region that produced it in abundance has a lot of cave formations along its coasts.

Note: Unlike conventional gemstones, jadestones have very different colours under different lighting conditions and surroundings. Photos are taken in daylight to best represent the natural colours when worn in the day. As such, they would look different when indoors. We advise to open your parcel in the day next to the window to best appreciate your first acquaintance with your acquisition.

Description

Taste has always been driven by the literati and aristocrats in the past. The Chinese painting is one of the ways in which these literati showcase their imagination and talent. Ink inclusion jadestones have the magical quality of the Chinese ink paintings.

Although I have a few bangles with ink-like inclusions, this is the best piece so far as it has clear ink speckles across, with very little murky parts which would obscure you from seeing the paintings.
