Natural Serpentine Jade
Inner diameter measures 17.9mm. Around 10mm high and 4.5mm thick.
Serpentine is also known as Xiu Yu 岫玉 (lit: “Jade” from the cave region) in Chinese, as the region that produced it in abundance has a lot of cave formations along its coasts.
Note: Unlike conventional gemstones, jadestones have very different colours under different lighting conditions and surroundings. Photos are taken in daylight to best represent the natural colours when worn in the day. As such, they would look different when indoors. We advise to open your parcel in the day next to the window to best appreciate your first acquaintance with your acquisition.
This is a piece with understated beauty. It is better carved by a master craftsman carver who lived his whole life near the region where Serpentines were produced. It is incredibly hard to carve something from stone, let alone on such a small scale.
