[Dual Side] Glistering Summer[Unique]

Description

This is one of my favourite. It is a kimono obi made with glistering gold threads that runs through the entire piece so you will notice that the actual item really glitters under the sun. This would have been a mix of silk threads with metallic gold threads and the motif is that of swirls of water waves.

Although the main colour is green, you can spot shades of slight muted warm colours to constrast with the cool green and to bring out the vibrancy and dynamism of the green. Delacroix would’ve been very happy with this asian subtle interpretation of his colour theory although the Asians have been applying complementary colours to our designs for thousands of years with great appreciations of such.

I will paired the bag with also a similarly coloured tassel which is made using a similar technique as the type of tassels that were popular on the Imperial Seals during Emperor Qianlong’s reign. It is called the Revolving Dragon’s Whiskers Tassel, and is constructed differently from the usual tassels in the market to prevent fraying of the thread at the end of the tassels. It is handmade by skilled craftsmen and not replaceable by machine at this point in time. As I have just designed the tassels to be made in accordance to the design of the bag, it is not reflected in the image.

I try to be as accurate as possible to the item’s original colours, but due to the difference in screen resolutions and configurations of various devices, the actual item might be slightly different from the image you see. But it will always be better looking in actuality as is the nature of my designs and items. The delightful surprise of traditional craftsmanship is always reserved for the up-close and personal encounters.

Unlike glitters, the glistering gold weaved into the fabric will never drop and make a mess of all your precious dresses and furniture.
