The Orient of Lozenges Earrings

Lozenges are diamond-shaped motifs that have been appearing in Chinese design traditions for over two thousand years. They appeared in the weaved silk of the Warring State period some 2,500 years ago and was also known as the ‘Longevity Motif’ for its ability to multiply and extend indefinitely in all directions as a repeated pattern. The double lozenge overlapping each other is also known as the Fang Sheng motif and was popular throughout Chinese history even till today. You can spot them in the latices of traditional Chinese wood carved windows today still.
This motif has evolved and remains popular in traditional Chinese decorative arts with a long legacy imbued with rich symbolism.
Just in case you were wondering, the cough medicines that are called Lozenges today got its name from its original diamond shape.
Adapted from the unique feather inlay traditions of ancient Chinese, we opted to use peacock feathers for its iridescence and its deep, intense colours.
There are three different types of feather colours to choose from:
Emerald: Predominantly various shades of green.
Opal: A wonderful play of colours with greens, blues and turquoise and occasionally some yellows. Pretty much like opal that’s without its reds.
Sapphire: Mainly deep, rich, intense blue.
The feathers are iridescent and would change under different lightings.

Handmade feather inlay with natural peacock feather is unique and will have different iridescence and colour gradient from one another. It is impossible to find two that are exactly the same. Actual product will vary slightly from the sample image.
