Fishes have long been seen as important totems by ancient civilisations including the Chinese. They represented abundance and fertility in the ancient civilisations.

This piece is meticulously planned and carved based on its natural colour and pattern in the serpentine jade rawstone.

Entire piece is around 51.5mm long (not inlcuding the hook itself).

Serpentine is also known as Xiu Yu 岫玉 (lit: “Jade” from the cave region) in Chinese, as the region that produced it in abundance has a lot of cave formations along its coasts. This particular type of serpentine with the fanciful colours is also known as the floral serpentine jade.

Note: Unlike conventional gemstones, jadestones have very different colours under different lighting conditions and surroundings.
